This is much similar to soup but stew has the broth that is more gravy-like full of spices.

How To Make Chicken Stew?
Step1: Start preparing the stew by first browning the chicken. In a stockpot/dutch oven, add 1 Tbsp butter and chicken with salt. Brown the chicken on medium to high heat till the chicken looks caramelized. Take it on a plate and keep it aside.Step3: Add flour to the pan and stir well till the raw smell of flour vanishes.
Step5: Once the vegetables are tender, check for salt and seasonings to be added. Remove bay leaf, add parsley and stir well.
Step6: Check for desired thickness of the stew or keep cooking for some more time till the desired thickness is achieved. Serve with chopped parsley.
How To Thicken Chicken Stew?
To thicken the chicken stew adding flour to the stew works best, as it works well when the stew is frozen too.
Adding cornstarch mixed with water to the stew would also work fine but if you want to prepare a large pot and freeze then flour works better.

Ingredients
- 1.5lb/680Grams approx. Chicken, breast meat/ thigh meat, boneless, skinless
- 2 Tbsp Butter
- 2 Carrots, cubed/ chunks
- 1/2lb/227Grams approx. Baby potatoes, quartered, with skin
- 1 Medium Red Onion, diced
- 6 Garlic cloves, minced
- 5 Cups Chicken Stock, low sodium
- 2 Tbsp All Purpose Flour
- 2 Bay Leaves, dried
- 1/4 Cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
- Salt and Pepper Powder as needed
- 1/2tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Thyme, dried
Instructions
- Start preparing the stew by first browning the chicken. In a stockpot/dutch oven, add 1 Tbsp butter and chicken with salt. Brown the chicken on medium to high heat till the chicken looks caramelized. Take it on a plate and keep it aside.
- Next, add the remaining butter and add garlic, onion, carrots, potatoes, salt, bay leaf, thyme, pepper, turmeric, and stir fry for some time.
- Add flour to the pan and stir well till the raw smell of flour vanishes.
- Add chicken and stock to the pan and mix well. Cover and cook for 20mins on medium heat.
- Once the vegetables are tender, check for salt and seasonings to be added. Remove bay leaf, add parsley and stir well.
- Check for desired thickness of the stew or keep cooking for some more time till the desired thickness is achieved. Serve with chopped parsley.
