I had tasted this sweet chili chicken sometime back in a restaurant and loved it so much that I ordered more of it till I was full.
This recipe is very easy and can fix your cravings in under 30 mins or less.
I have adapted to original recipe from Dinner Then Dessert.
Thai Sweet Chili Chicken
Sweet chili chicken recipe calls for very basic ingredients and makes this recipe amazing.
Sweet Chili Chicken Ingredients:
- Chicken Breast/Thigh,boneless pieces.
- Batter: The batter used to marinate chicken and fry,is made of egg,flour,cornflour,baking powder,red chili powder,black pepper powder and chilled club soda.
- Chili Sauce: Thai sweet chili sauce,garlic,spring onion,Thai green chili,lemon juice.
How To Make Thai Sweet Chili Chicken
Step1: Clean and dry the chicken,make the chicken pieces.
Step2: In a bowl,add the ingredients for the batter(as shown in picture 1) and mix well to coat the chicken pieces evenly(as shown in picture 2).
Step3: Heat oil around 2 inch in a pan,enough to submerge the pieces while frying. Slowly drop the chicken pieces in oil and fry them till golden brown. Darin on a kitchen tissue paper(as shown in picture 3).
Step4: In a wok/pan,add oil and when its hot,add garlic,thai green chili,spring onion and stir fry till fragrant(as shown in picture 4).
Step5: Next add the Thai sweet chili sauce,lemon juice and mix well.(as shown in picture 5)
Step6: Finally add the chicken pieces and toss well to coat the chicken pieces with the sauce mix(as shown in picture 6).Serve immediately.
Things you can use to make Sweet Chili Chicken
Tips to make the Thai Sweet Chili Chicken
- Make sure the chicken is well dried before adding to the batter. This needs to be checked to ensure that batter sticks to the chicken well.
- To check if the oil is hot enough,if you drop a little batter in the oil it should rise immediately and not sink.
- Always fry the chicken on medium heat to ensure even cooking or else the chicken may be raw inside.
- Once you add the club soda to the batter the batter will turn frothy,immediately add the chicken pieces,mix well and start frying.
- Do not make the batter and let it rest and after some time fry the chicken.This will not make the chicken fluffy and airy.
- Once the final dish is ready then it will taste best when served immediately.

Ingredients
- 1 Cup,Chicken Breast ,cut into small pieces
- For Batter:
- 1 Egg
- 1/3 Cup Flour
- 1/4 Cup Cornflour
- As per need Salt
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
- a generous pinch black pepper powder
- 1/4 cup or little extra as per need,Chilled Club Soda
- For Thai Sweet Chili Sauce Mix:
- 4 Cloves,Garlic,minced
- 2 Spring Onion,sprigs,whites,sliced
- 1 to 2 Thai Green Chili,slit(use as per heat tolerance)
- 1/3 Cup Mae Ploy Chili Sweet Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- Extra:
- Oil for frying
- Sesame Seeds for garnish
- Spring Onion,greens for garnish
Instructions
- Clean and cut the chicken pieces and dry them completely.
In a bowl add the ingredients for batter,and mix well to make the batter.
The batter will be frothy . - Heat oil in a deep frying pan,make sure the oil is at-least 2 inch so that it can submerge the chicken pieces.
When the oil is hot,slowly drop the chicken pieces in batches and fry them till golden brown. - In a pan/wok,add little oil and fry the garlic,green chili,spring onion whites.
When its fragrant add the sweet chili sauce,lemon juice and stir well. - Add the chicken pieces next and toss well to coat the chicken.
Cook for few seconds till the chicken pieces soak up the sauce slightly.
Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onion greens.
Serve the chicken immediately with rice or noodles of your choice.
