What is a Potsticker
Posticker is also called a dumpling. These are famous Asian appetizers, usually made in a crescent shape, with doughy covers stuffed with a savory filling made of chicken or pork, vegetables, and steam-fried.
What are chicken potstickers made of
The possibilities for the potsticker filling are endless.I have used the following to make the delicious dim sum:
Place the dumplings on a flat surface dusted with flour and make them sit on the flat surface, making the base of the potstickers broader, such that the bottom of the potstickers flattens.
Step3: Cook Potstickers
Heat a wide bottom pan with a bit of oil, make sure that the pan is evenly covered with oil.
Arrange the potstickers leaving some space between them and cook in batches.
Let them fry for 2 minutes, then add 1/4 cup water to the same pan, cover the pan, and let the potstickers cook till the water evaporates.
Remove the lid and let the potstickers cook till the bottom of the potstickers gets crisp.

Step4: Serve Potstickers
Serve these potstickers with your favorite dipping sauce, chili oil, or sauce.

How are the potsticker wrapper/ dumpling skins made
The most convenient option to make potstickers is to get store-bought wrappers, as it's time-saving. Asian grocery stores carry pot sticker wrappers, which are convenient to use.
I have made fresh dumpling wrappers for this recipe, but it's time-consuming. So, it's basically a personal choice to decide if you want to go for store-bought or freshly made.
How to pleat potstickers
In this potstickers recipe, I have used round wrappers.
Apply a little water on the edge of the wrapper and fold it over the filling, forming a half-moon.
Then pinch the edges to seal the wrapper. It's that simple! When you make the potsticker sit on a flat surface, the edges get the pleats as shown in the pic.

What is a potsticker dipping sauce made of
The dipping sauce is made of soy sauce, white vinegar, sriracha, brown sugar, chili oil, and sesame seeds.Tips for making Potstickers
- Try to finely chop the vegetables that go in a potsticker filling. This will ensure that the filling holds together.
- Do not overfill the potsticker, as this will ensure that the filling does not come out while cooking the potstickers, and seal the potstickers well.
- Make sure there is no air trapped inside the potstickers while sealing them. The air inside the potstickers will cause a tear in them while cooking them.
- Make sure there is no liquid or water in the filling. A soggy filling will make the potstickers tear while cooking.
- Do not overcrowd the pan while cooking potstickers. Leave some space among them to allow them to expand.
- You can use variations in filling by switching the protein mentioned in this recipe with the protein of your choice, vegetables can be switched as per your choice, and also the sauces.
- Wrappers can be made at home or use store-bought wrappers.
- Store the cooked potstickers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- To store the uncooked potstickers in the freezer, arrange the potstickers in an airtight freezer-safe container lined with parchment paper to avoid sticking the potstickers. They will last for up to 3 months.
