These firecracker meatballs are juicy and full of flavors, covered in a delicious firecracker sauce, which makes them so good!

I tried my hands on the recipe for firecracker chicken meatballs and it was so good that it's been a regular now. The sauce for chicken meatballs is amazing, delicious, plus sweet, savory, and spicy all at the same time.

What Are Firecracker Meatballs?

An Asian twist to traditional meatballs and savory, sweet, spicy firecracker sauce that steals the show!

These baked firecracker chicken meatballs are excellent with the spicy firecracker sauce.
If you love spicy food then this ground chicken meatballs recipe is mindblowing with a fantastic sauce that will be your regular.

Ingredients Used To Make The Best Chicken Meatballs:

  • Ground Chicken
  • Spices (Salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, onion powder)
  • Egg
  • Garlic
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Parmesan
  • Parsley
You will need these basic ingredients to make this firecracker chicken.

You can substitute onion powder with minced onion, instead of chicken you can also use pork, or beef as per choice.
Breadcrumbs can be the regular ones or Panko too.
Instead of paprika, you can use red chili flakes or sriracha too.

How To Make Firecracker Sauce?

The ingredients used to make the firecracker sauce are:
  • Hot Sauce
  • Brown Sugar
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Salt
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Soy Sauce
  • Garlic Powder
To make the sauce for meatballs, you need to add all the ingredients to a saucepan and let it simmer for some time till the sauce starts to thicken.

Do not keep the sauce cooking as it gets thick as the sauce cools.

Can I Use Frozen Meatballs?

Yes! But the taste of these freshly made chicken meatballs will be so much better than store-bought frozen meatballs.

How Long Does These Meatballs Last?

You can store cooked/baked chicken meatballs in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. They are good to consume.

Can I Freeze Firecracker Meatballs?

Yes! You can arrange them in a freezer-safe container with parchment paper to separate the layers. They stay suitable for up to 1 month.

You can thaw them in the refrigerator section and then cook them or bake them.

How To Serve Firecracker Meatballs?

You can serve these chicken meatballs as an appetizer, covered in firecracker sauce with toothpicks, or serve as a meal with rice and stir-fried beans on the side.

Tip's To Make The Best Firecracker Chicken Meatballs:

  • While rolling the balls, apply some oil to your palms and roll with light hands. This will give you soft tender meatballs.
  • You can air fry, deep fry, or even bake the meatballs.
  • The sauce thickens as it cools down, so keep checking the sauce's consistency. 

How To Make Firecracker Meatballs?

Step 1:  In a bowl, add all the ingredients for meatballs. Mix everything well. Do Not overmix. Overmixing will give hard and dry meatballs.

Step 2:  Apply some oil to your palms. Scoop the meat mixture and shape it into balls, roughly 1-and-half inches.

Place all the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 
Do Not apply pressure while rolling meatballs or they will turn dense.

Step 3:  Preheat oven to 400F.
Spray nonstick spray or oil over the meatballs and bake for 10mins.

Flip the meatballs with tongs and bake the meatballs for another 10mins.

Step 4:  In a saucepan add the ingredients for sauce.
Cook over medium heat, until sauce is combined. Stir in between to avoid sticking to the pan or burning the sauce. Let it cool.

The sauce thickens as it cools. But adjust the sauce consistency as it cools completely by adding a dash of water.

Step 4:  Dip each meatball into the sauce and place it back on the baking tray.  Bake for another 7 to 8 mins.

Garnish with parsley and red chili flakes.
