A new post for seafood lovers...yummy Stuffed Crabs!
I tasted this dish for the first time when my sister prepared it and we all just loved it!
Then next time, I tasted this dish again at her her house,for some get-together.
That taste of yummy stuffed crabs was lingering on my tongue for a long long time.
I could not get good small crabs for long time now. These days I am able to get these tiny crabs.
In Goa,we prepare very tasty dishes with crabs.

This dish tastes awesome with steamed rice and Goan Sol Kadi....yumm.
It very well goes as a appetizer too, try with sauces...it would be yumm as well.

Stuffed Crabs
Ingredients
- 4 Medium Crabs,with legs separated
- For Masala:
- 1 Medium Onion,finely chopped
- Paste of:
- 4 Tablespoons Grated Coconut
- 4 Cloves
- 2 Black Peppercorns
- 1/2 Teaspoon Coriander Seeds
- 1, 1" Cinnamon Stick
- Gooseberry Size Tamarind
- 1 Small (optional) Green chilli
- 1 ",small piece Ginger
- 1/2 Teaspoon Fennel Seeds
- 4 Cloves Garlic
- 2 Sprigs Cilantro
- Salt as per need
- For Coating:
- 3 Tablespoons + More if needed, Semolina / Rava
- as needed Salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
Instructions
First wash the crabs well.
Separate the leg pieces.
Separate the meat part from the shells.
Preserve the shells
In a sauce pan,add water enough to cover all the pieces.
Boil the crab pieces till cooked and soft.
Let it cool.
Drain the water.
Now slowly remove the cooked crab meet from each piece.
To break open leg pieces ,use the kitchen meat hammer.
Keep the meat on a plate.
Now,in a mixer grinder,grind all the ingredients mentioned under "Paste Of" to a smooth and thick paste.
Do not add too much water ,as the ground paste should hold together.
Now add salt and chopped onion to it.
In a mixing bowl , mix the crab meat,salt,ground paste and onion well.
On a plate, add rava,salt,turmeric powder,red chilli powder.
Mix well.
Now take sufficient quantity of this mixed crab meat mixture.
Form balls of this mixture with your hands, enough to stuff the shells.
Consume all the mixture,such that it's all used up to stuff the shells properly.
Stuff each of the crab shell preserved with each ball.
Press it tight so that it does not loosen up upon frying.
Now,coat each of the crab piece with rava mixture that we have mixed on the plate.
Coat the crabs well.
On a tava / frying pan,add oil.
When its hot,keep all the crab pieces and fry well till crispy.
Serve hot with rice or with sauce of your choice.
