A new post to sooth everyone's  craving's....a super simple yet delicious....Maharashtrian Crab Sukka!!

I had cravings to have nice,fragrant,spicy and delicious restaurant style Crab Sukka...that too aromatic Maharashtrian style.
Luckily this week I got these big Crabs,full of meat and of-course ideal to make a lot of tasty crab varieties.I did make a lot of varieties this week.
Try some of my Crab Recipes: Crab Curry and Crab Masala.
Apart from this try sometimes doing a Crab Rava Fry...its super hit at my home too.

This crab preparation is finger licking one and superbly aromatic.

Maharashtrian Crab Sukka Seafood Masala

Maharashtrian Crab Sukka
Ingredients
  • 6 Medium / Large Crabs,washed,cleaned,cut
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Lime Juice
  • For paste:
  • 1 Medium Onion,long cut
  • 1 Medium Tomato,cubed
  • 6 Garlic cloves
  • 4 Tablespoons Grated Coconut
  • 1 Inch Ginger,piece
  • 4 Black Peppercorns
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 Inch Cinnamon stick
  • 3 Mace Petals
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • Oil as per need
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Small Onion,finely chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Kanda-Lasun Masala
  • 1 & 1/2 Teaspoon Malvani Masala
  • 2 Sprigs Cilantro,chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Grated Coconut,for Garnish
Instructions
Cut ,Wash and clean the crabs. Separate the crabs from the leg pieces.
Marinate these with salt,lime juice and 1 Teaspoon turmeric powder.
Keep this aside.
In a pan,add oil,add onion,tomato,garlic,ginger,grated coconut,peppercorns,cloves,cinnamon,mace and turmeric powder.
Fry till the mixture is brown and leaves aroma.
Let it cool and grind to a smooth paste.
In the same pan,add more oil,add chopped onion,when its slightly pinkish,add crabs,add little water and 1 teaspoon sugar.
Mix well.Cook for a while.
Add kanda-lasun masala and malvani masala.
MIx well.
Add ground paste.
Mix further.
Cook till crabs are done and the water is dried.
Add cilantro and finally add grated coconut.
Serve hot with Rice,curry...Enjoy!!

Tips:
  • Do not make the ground paste watery. As it will take long to  dry the liquid in sukka.
  • Adjust salt as per taste and spice level.
  • Kanda-Lasun masala is optional. You can skip this and add coriander-cumin powder too.

    1. When I started fishing for freshwater tarpon I would use small patch crabs and would drift them right in front of tarpon and they would not seem interested.
