Cajun Pasta Recipe Ingredients:
- Chicken: I have used chicken breast but you can use thigh meat also. You can also add shrimp or any protein of your choice.
- Pasta: Use pasta that your family loves! There is no rule as to which pasta goes for this recipe. You have to remember that sauce should be sufficient to coat the pasta.
- Unsalted butter: I love the buttery flavor the final dish gets.
- Olive Oil: A combination of butter and olive oil gives a nice flavor to the dish.
- Cajun Seasoning: Needed for the amazing sauce and to give a kick to the dish.
- Salt & Pepper
- Tomato / Onion / Garlic: Adds flavor to the dish.
- Pasta Sauce: To make this creamy cajun sauce, you will need cream (heavy cream/half and half), pasta water/chicken broth, cajun seasoning, parmesan, and brown sugar.
- Dried Parsley: For garnish
How to make creamy cajun pasta
Step 1: Bring a large pot of water to boil. Add a teaspoon of olive oil and salt to it. Add pasta and cook till al dente.Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain the remaining. Toss the pasta with a teaspoon of olive oil and set aside.
Step 2: Marinate chicken with cajun seasoning and set aside.
Step 3: Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a large skillet and sear the chicken breast on both sides until golden crust has developed. This should take about 5 mins. Set this aside and cut into strips once cooled.
Step 4: In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and butter, add garlic, onion, and tomato, and saute till they are soft.
Step 5: Before adding pasta sauce ingredients, lower the heat to sim, and add pasta sauce ingredients one at a time. Let the sauce simmer, and adjust the salt in the sauce.
Step 6: Add chicken and pasta to the pan, and toss well. Add parsley and grated parmesan well. Serve while hot.

Tips to make Chili's cajun pasta:
- Use any pasta available to you.
- You can skip chicken for any protein of your choice. Shrimp will work too.
- Adjust the cajun spice levels in this recipe as per your family's spice tolerance.
- Pasta water can be substituted with chicken broth too.
- Do not completely cook pasta before adding to the dish as it will soak up a little bit of sauce.
- Heavy cream can be replaced with a combination of milk with half and half cream.
- Leftovers can be heated in a microwave but there will not be sauce in this dish. You must add a splash of water or milk to build the sauce in this dish.
- You can refrigerate for up to 3 days.
