It's Egg Roll on my mind all the time, I have been drooling looking at crunchy,crispy,Egg Roll pictures last few days and here I am sharing one of my favorite Egg Roll recipe and with a twist but a Good twist to the regular recipe.

Here I have combined two recipes in one,Jalapeno Popper and Egg Roll in one recipe that makes this amazing Jalapeno Popper Egg Roll!

You are going to totally devour this dish to the last bit,trust me! sooo soooo good!

Here I used homemade wrapper and it was super crisp and under budget than store-bought Wonton Wrapper or Egg Roll Wrapper.

Takeout style Chicken Jalapeno Popper Egg Roll

Here are few pointer's to help you all to make this wrapper at home:
  • Make the dough a bit stiff and cover with a dry cloth and keep aside, till you are ready to roll out sheets for wrapper.
  • Roll out very very thin sheets of the dough to get the final rolls very crisp and they stay crisp for long too.
  • Do not stuff the wrapper with the stuffing  ahead of time.Just add the stuffing and roll the wrapper before you fry them.
  • Adding stuffing to the wrappers and rolling them way before frying them will make the rolls soggy.

How to make Jalapeno Popper Egg Roll:
  • Firstly,in a mixing bowl add the crushed/grated cheddar,cream cheese,chopped jalapeno,spring onion,cooked minced chicken and spices.
  • Mix well and keep aside.
  • If you are looking to save on store bought Wonton /Egg Roll wrappers then try this recipe of pastry dough that I have made in Besan Kachori Recipe.
  • This dough will enable you to make wrappers for Egg Roll ,equally good and crisp that you will find from the markets.
  • Place a tablespoon and little more of the filling on the wrapper and fold the Egg Roll as shown the pictures and fry them on medium heat till golden brown.
  • Serve hot.
Steps to make Jalapeno Popper Egg Roll stuffing

How to cook Chicken for the stuffing:
  • To add to this I have used minced cooked chicken. You can use any meat or seafood of your choice.
  • To add the chicken,just saute some minced chicken/any other meat of your choice/seafood in little oil and dash of salt till done.
  • To roll the Egg Roll, make a paste of flour with water,this has to be thick paste to hold the roll together.

Jalapeno Popper Egg Roll
Crisp fried to perfection these Jalapeno Popper Egg Roll are perfect appetizers for any potluck,party or just to munch on when you crave for these! Crisp cover filled with cheese,cream cheese,chicken,jalapeno!


  • 1/2 Cup Chicken,minced and cooked with a dash of Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Cream Cheese,softened
  • 1/4 Cup Cheddar Cheese,shredded
  • As per need Salt
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Powder Garlic
  • 2 Jalapeno,chopped,seeds and ribs removed
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Ground
  • 2 Spring Onion,chopped
  • 6 Egg Roll Wrappers / Wonton Wrapper
  • 1 Tbsp Flour mixed with 1 Tbsp Water
  • Oil to fry


  1. To cook chicken,in a pan,add little oil and saute minced chicken with a dash of salt, till done.
    In a mixing bowl, add cream cheese,cheddar,spring onion,spices,chicken and mix well.
  2. As per pictures shown add the stuffing to wrapper.
    Apply the flour mixed with water paste to the edges of the wrapper.
  3. Heat oil to medium heat in a wide pan.
    Seal the rolls as per the pictures shown and fry in the oil till golden brown.
    Make sure there are no openings anywhere or else the filling will start to spill in the oil and there will be oil splutters.
  4. Once fried till crisp,drain on the kitchen paper.
    Serve hot with choice of dipping sauce.

Cook time: 00:20:00 mins.
