Tadkewali Idli (Idli Upma my Way)



A new post with breakfast idea ... Tadkewali Idli or Idli Upma my way!

I had a bowl full of leftover mini idlis , also was in a hurry to make something delicious for breakfast.
Tried this Idli upma with idli chunks rather than using crumbled idli.
Turned out superb ,very tasty also healthy.

These types of breakfast dishes can be done in a jiffy and would make you a filling breakfast without doubt.

Masala Tadka Idli
Ingredients
  • 12 Idlis,mini
  • 1 Tablespoons Ghee / Clarified Butter + 1 Tablespoon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Hing /Asafoetida
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon MUstard Seeds
  • 1 Sprig Curry Leaves
  • 4 Byadgi Chillies,broken into halves
  • 1 Small Onion,finely chopped
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt as per need
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • a Fistful Grated Coconut
  • 1 Teaspoon Goda Masala
  • 2 sprigs Cilantro,finely chopped
Instructions
Cut each idli into 4 pieces.
Cut each idli at center making 2 pieces,then further make one more cut of each piece.
In a shallow pan,add ghee.
When its hot,add hing,cumin seeds,mustard seeds,curry leaves,byadgi chillies.
Mix well.
When it splutters,lower the flame.
Add onion,turmeric powder,red chilli powder,salt,sugar.
Mix well.
Cook it till onions turn pink.
Add grated coconut,goda masala,cilantro.
Mix well.
Now sprinkle some water on this idli mixture.
Cover and cook for some time on sim.
After 5 minutes,switch off the gas.
Sprinkle another tablespoon ghee on top.
Cover and keep it aside for another 2 minutes before servings.
Enjoy with hot cuppa tea!
