Chicken Teriyaki Recipe
Chicken Teriyaki Ingredients:
- Chicken: I have used chicken breast meat; you can use chicken thigh meat instead.
- Cornstarch: This is used once to coat the chicken and a second time to thicken the sauce.
- Olive Oil: Used to cook chicken and in sauce too. You can use sesame oil in this recipe.
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce: Use this in the sauce; you can also use Tamari instead.
- Brown Sugar: Instead of brown sugar, use honey in the sauce.
- Rice Vinegar: You can use apple cider vinegar too.
- Ginger and Garlic: This adds flavor and heat to the sauce.
- Chicken Broth: You can also use vegetable broth.
- Salt & Pepper: Adjust salt and pepper to taste.


How to make Teriyaki Chicken:
Step1: Make sauce.In a cup or bowl, whisk together ingredients for the sauce. Mix well and keep aside.Step2: Marinate chicken. Clean and dry chicken pieces. Add chicken to a bowl, add salt, pepper powder, and cornstarch. Toss chicken well to coat the chicken pieces.
Step3: Cook Chicken. Heat a skillet over medium heat, and add 2 Tbsp olive oil. Add chicken to skillet in batches and cook till chicken is slightly browned. Transfer the chicken to a plate.
Step4: Add remaining oil to the skillet and fry onion till crispy.
Step5: Add chicken and sauce to the skillet. Let the sauce bubble on medium heat for a minute.
Step6: Coat chicken well with the sauce and make sure chicken does not burn. Serve chicken with sesame seeds and spring onion.


- You can use tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Instead of chicken breast, you can use chicken thighs.
- Cut chicken into evenly sized pieces so that cooking is faster, but do not overcook the chicken, as it will dry out.
- You can also use sesame oil in this recipe; it will add more flavor.
