Paneer Do Pyaza / Paneer Dopiaza

A new post again, and this time I am sharing one of most delicious Paneer dishes I have tasted lately...it's Paneer Do Pyaza / Paneer Dopiaza!

Mostly its fish/chicken at home as we all are hardcore fish lovers! but sometime I like to indulge in some lipsmacking vegetarian dishes.
My milestone at home everyday is that to cook something that all of us will enjoy and not make me cook and feed as per each persons wish. But sometimes I have to do that as I have two fussy eaters at home and when it comes to them no matter how hard I try I cannot please them ๐Ÿ˜ซ
I had totally forgotten that I had bought a large block of Paneer/Cottage Cheese some time back and it was in the refrigerator in a hope that I will hopefully cook it someday!
Cooking Paneer for a family who dreams/eats/sleeps and wakes in a hope to eat chicken/fish is a nightmare. Well these days I am a drive to feed them all variety of dishes, atleast hoping so!๐Ÿ˜
So I have started my drive with Paneer as I wanted to cook it before it crosses it's possible edible date.
I mostly buy paneer instead of making at home but I want to make that at home now, hopefully I will start doing it this year!
So coming back to my recipe,I tasted this dish recently at a food joint where I accidentally ordered do pyaza instead of some other paneer dish but somehow I loved this too.
Although I am not an expert so I could not understand how the original would taste so I was looking for any article that would explain me why certain dishes are called do pyaza! huh!

Here's a excerpt of what I found source Wiki: "It is prepared with a large amount of onions, both cooked in the curry and as a garnish. Onions are added at two stages during cooking, hence the name ("two onions"). According to the legend the dish was created when a courtier of Mughal emperor Akbar Mullah Do Piaza accidentally added a large quantity of onions to a dish. The dish evolved further in Hyderabad, India, and became a staple of Hyderabadi cuisineAs many other Hyderabadi dishes, the addition of a sour agent is a key part of dopiaza. Most often, raw mangoes are used; however, lemon juice or cranberries can be used as well."

Since I had tasted the dish which was on a spicier and sweet combination of flavors so I did a workaround and made some similar version.
As the recipe calls the addition of onion to this in two forms,so I added the first ones cubed/chunks of onion sauteed and them fried sliced onion as a garnish.
We all enjoyed this a dish a lot, although it looks and tastes delicious and rich in flavors but so easy and simple to make that you will lick your fingers afterwords.
Do try this and leave your feedback!
