Excerpt from Wikipedia:
Malvan is a town in Sindhudurg District, the southernmost district of Maharashtra. The staple diet of the people here is fish curry and rice. It is known for its variety of mangoes (Malvani Hapus - Alphonso).

Malvan is so close to Goa in cuisine and culture.
The cooking style of Malvan is moreover similar to that of Goa's, as both of these cuisines use Coconut and Kokam in most of the recipes.
