Step 5:  Heat oil in a deep frying pan, once the oil is hot, drop the bread slices into the pan, a few slices at a time and fry till golden brown. If you overcrowd the pan, the temperature of the oil will drop.

Step 6:  Cook till prawn paste is cooked through. Place the toast pieces on a tray lined with kitchen tissue paper.

Tips to make prawn and sesame toast:

  • Using frozen, pre-cleaned prawns saves a lot of time, instead of fresh prawns.
  • Use thick white bread for this recipe, as it has to hold the prawn mixture. Also, do not cut the bread crust as it is needed for a crispy toast to hold while eating.
  • If you are using frozen prawns then defrost them in refrigerator overnight and pat them dry before using.
  • Overcrowding the pan with toast will make the oil temperature to reduce and this will make the toast soak more oil and will take more time to fry.
  • Preparing for the prawn toast in advance is posible. You can prepare the filling and refrigerate it before making the toast. If you apply the mixture to bread and keep it ahead of time before frying then the bread will turn soggy.
  • To reheat the prawn toast, you can reheat them in oven for 10mins at 375F.
  • You can freeze the sesame prawn toast by cooling them after frying, arranging them between layers of tissue papers.
  • Serve these prawn toasts with sweet chili sauce.
