Old fashioned, simple yet delicious, perfect for breakfast or Tea-Time -Cinnamon Sugar Donuts!

A new post again and something we all love to eat from kids to old...it's Donuts/Doughnuts and one more thing is these are Eggless/Egg-Free!

I used to stay away from Donuts or Doughnut (whatever you call them the taste is same),as I didn't want to add another thing in my list of sweet addictions.
From my blog you can make out I make lot of sweets or desserts, so making donuts would make me have even more calories.
Somehow I decide I won't eat more sweet but end up making more than what I decide! 😀

So finally I thought rather than always getting these donuts from outside why not start at home, that way I won't have to depend on anyone. I wanted to make them eggless/eggfree too.
As we observe some vegetarian days ,so on those days when I want a quick bite of something or even for kids to eat something yummy.
First try is conventional one, deep-fried one and not baked. May be after I have build up enough guilt of having these yummy one's I will start baked one 😉

I made these simple yet most delicious, soft, light, airy Cinnamon Sugar Donuts and yes Egg-free one's! I have fried the donut holes too!

Ingredients
  • For Dough:
  • 1 & 1/2 Cup Maida/ All Purpose Flour (Spooned and leveled)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 6 Teaspoons Powdered White Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Yeast(I used Instant)
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup Warm Milk
  • 2 Tablespoon Butter ,Melted
  • For coating/rolling:
  • 3 Teaspoons Sugar,Powdered
  • 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon Powder
  • Additional:
  • Vegetable Oil for deep frying(Use oil as per choice)
  • Parchment paper
  • Donut/Cookie Cutter or any handy utensil to cut donuts
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients mentioned under "For Dough" except the butter.Mix everything well and knead to make a soft dough.
I did the dough with hands.
You can use stand mixer / hand mixer with dough attachment too.
Initially the dough will be slightly sticky. Then add the melted butter.
Knead further to get a smooth and soft dough.
Cover it with a cling wrap.
Keep in a warm place to ferment/ rise.
After the dough has doubled in size.
Take the dough on the kitchen counter and punch it down once or twice.
Roll it to 1" thick and cut the donuts.
Place these donuts on the parchment paper lined on a tray.
Place the donuts holes too.
Leave them again to rise.
When they proved well, heat oil to fry.
Slowly drop the donuts in oil and fry them on medium heat till brown and cooked well.
Drain them on a kitchen paper let them cool for a while.
Follow this for donuts holes too.
In a mixing bowl, add sugar and cinnamon powder.
Toss well to mix it.
When the donuts are still warm, roll them in sugar mix and coat them well.
Serve immediately or eat as you want!
Enjoy!

Eggfree Eggless Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

Tips:
  • Frying them on low-medium flame would get them cooked well.
  • Fry till brown and crisp.
  • I did not store them so not sure about how long they can be edible as we finished them in a day's time.
