Prawn Cutlets/Patty

Prawn Cutlets are one of the most delicious starters or snacks for any occasion.
My mom prepares her signature Goan cutlets, but I like variations in recipes so I thought of giving it a twist :P
So here's a new recipe for all prawns lovers!!

Snacks Prawns Cutlets



Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Prawns
  • 1 cup boiled,meshed potato
  • 1 tbsp Rice Flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • salt
  • small piece of tamarind
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 green chilies
  • cilantro, chopped
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • a pinch of sugar
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • powdered (1/2 tsp cumin seeds,1/2 tsp carom seeds)

For Coating:
  • 2 tbsp bread crumbs
  • 2  tbsp rice flour/ coarse semolina

Snacks Prawns Cutlets




Method:
  • Wash prawns,peel and devein them. Make small pieces of prawns and apply salt. keep aside.
  •  Now mix all ingredients mentioned i.e. meshed potatoes,powdered spices,salt,green chillies,cilantro,chopped onion,flour,cornstarch,asafoetida,ginger-garlic paste,tamarind. Mix well to make a nice smooth dough consistency.
  • Now add prawns to this.
  • Divide this dough into 5-6 equal portions. Make small round balls out of this mixture.
  • Mix bread crumbs and rice flour together.
  • Coat the balls of prawns mixture and press to form a patty shape.
  • Now on a griddle, pour oil and shallow fry these till crisp and prawns are cooked.
  • Serve with sauce of your choice.
