Goan Mackerel Recheado/Stuffed


Hello ALL!!...I made this Mackerel Recheado recently so just updating the post with recent pictures,the recipe remains the same!

Stuffed Mackerel or better known as Recheado is another mouthwatering dish of Goa.
In most of Goan lunch thalis, this can be one of the highly recommended dish. I love mackerel varieties apart from recheado,such as rava fry, uddamethi,sukem,etc.
I shall post recipes of mackerel as and when i will prepare them but today's post is about recheado.
How to Fillet Mackerel.?
So enjoy this dish as I do!!








Ingredients:
  • 2 mackerels
  • 2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 5 Black Peppercorns
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 4 Cloves
  • a small piece of ginger
  • 4 cloves of Garlic
  • 1 or 2 green chillies
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder(for masala) + 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • a small bunch of cilantro
  • 2 tbsp grated coconut
  • salt as per taste
  • 1 medium onion,chopped
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 4 tbsp coarse semolina




Method:

  • Wash the cleaned and cut mackerel and apply salt,1/4 tsp turmeric and red chili powder and keep aside.
  • Grind together ginger,garlic,cilantro,grated coconut,cumin,fennel seeds,coriander seeds,green chillies,peppercorns,cloves,salt,turmeric powder with vinegar.
  • Now combine ground masala with chopped onion and place it on either cut fillets of mackerel(How to Fillet Mackerel.? .)
  • Fold the stuffed mackerel sides together.
  • Coat it with semolina.
  • Shallow fry with little oil
  • Serve hot with rice.



Tip:
  • If you do not wish to use vinegar then u can as well grind masala with water. Make sure you don't make the masala too watery.
